2009 Apple & Pumpkin Day! at Hulme GArden Centre

Harken HCGCers!

www.hulmegardencentre.org.uk

Fret not at the gloaming of the evenings, screw your courage to its sticking place at the now lambent sun and embrace the coming of the crepuscular with yet more seasonal shenanigans at HCGC! Spread the word! And as it’s National Poetry Day let us start with some seasonal verse…

"Listen!  the wind is rising,
and the air is wild with leaves,
We have had our summer evenings,
now for October eves!"

Humbert Wolfe

And with such autumnal abandon let us now pronounce that the HCGC Apple and Pumpkin Day is nigh! Flier attached!

OK, so it’s not in the evening but it is in October. The 18th  to be precise, between 11ish and 4.00.

So, apart from (deep breath!) the Apple bobbing, Pumpkin Carving, Face-Painting, Quizzes and activities in the garden, Prize Draws, Goody Bags, Home Made Yummy Organic Food, Free Expert Horticultural Advice and Special Offers there’s also an emphasis on learning something new (while still having lots of fun of course!) so there’ll be workshops for all the family and for children and adults separately on growing your own seasonal food and on planting bulbs. As well as the workshops, expert staff will be on hand throughout the day offering advice and guidance to people and their organisations on how to ‘green’ their own community spaces. What’s not to like!

To recap: A beautiful community garden and the opportunity to learn something new? Well, as my old pal Cicero once said –

“If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need”.

Lovely.

Please pass this joyful missive to as many people as you can and help make the day a huge success, we want as many people as possible to come and learn something new. You know you want to. Thanks muchly in anticipation.
