The third FeedingManchester event will take place on Saturday 13th February 2010 (changed from 6th February) to continue planning practical ways of making Greater Manchester's food system more sustainable. This event will be focused on Manchester City Council's Climate Action Plan, its aspiration for sustainable food and how the third sector can help ‘double the amount of locally grown food we eat’ over the next ten years. An after-work social café combining beer, conversation, and the jagged interface between technology, networks, and “saving the world”, kicked off by a five minute talk by sustainable technologist Richard Smedley. Running every Wednesday in Liverpool FACT's Gallery 1 at 6pm. Traditional agriculture is labour-intensive; modern agriculture is energy intensive (& unsustainable) - but permaculture is design & knowledge intensive, using natural systems that give abundance to provide for our material needs with local adaptation to micro-climate, people & landscape. “…Permaculturist’s propose asking questions the current culture leaves unasked: How much is enough?
