Talk on 'Woodland Gardening'

An open meeting organised by Incredible Edible Pre stwich and District http://incredible-edible-prest wich.org.uk with the support of Transition Town Bu ry.  

Angus will explain the benefits of us ing low maintenance methods and perennial plants i ncluding trees and shrubs to produce food in woodl and settings.   Woodlands are more productive, mop up harmful greenhouse gases and transfer nutri ents and build soil without the energy inputs need ed to maintain cultivated soils.   There is more about his talk at http://northernschool.info/node /63 and links to his other activities can be acces sed from there.

The meeting is associated wit h an attempt to develop an experimental woodland garden in an area of Prestwich Clough.

Angus Soutar is planning to run a course on permaculture in the Prestwich area, possibly using the garden for practical sessions.

Glebelands City Growers (Sale), Tom Rigby (Warrin gton) Moss Brook Growers (Unicorn land near Leigh) and Chris Hewitt (Dunham Massey) plus local socia l enterprise The Kindling Trust will talk about th eir highs, their lows, and how the are working t ogether to help build a more sustainable food syst em for Manchester. Plus enjoy a free organic soup made from the growers veg, courtesy of Unicorn's deli.Tickets in advance from the shop. Doors open 7pm.

MFDF 11 - Permaculture Association Annual General Meeting

This event is a great opportunity for you to get t o grips with what's been happening at the Permacul ture Association this year and learn about where w e are headed.

There will be a variety of pres entations about the work we've been doing with the chance to attend workshops, a diploma accreditat ion and mingle with the many inspiring people that make up the network.

This event includes a n utritious and delicious lunch and is free to atten d. We welcome any donations to the day and any mon ey raised will be put towards funding similar even ts in the future.
